Holotype: USNM 163473 (Schuchert, 1905, p. 56).

Type locality: “Pliocene marl of Shell Creek, Florida” (Dall, 1903, p. 1629). BHL.

Original description: “the ligament is typical of Acar, the radial threads are minutely granular, especially on the posterior dorsal slope; the shell is thin and the scars obscure” (Dall, 1903, p. 1629). BHL. Note that original description was presented by Dall in figure caption.

Other notes: As of 30 October 2025, this species is represented by only two specimen lots in the collections of the FLMNH: UF 19445 (Bermont Fm., Palm Beach Co., FL; 1 specimen) and UF 297125 (Caloosahatchee Fm., Charlotte Co., FL; 1 specimen).
